Heard a ruru. Fixed a CSS bug.

Probably unrelated. A z-index story in three acts, one of which is mostly staring.

It was 2:14am. The house was quiet, and a card component had been sitting on top of a dropdown menu for three days like it owned the place.

Somewhere outside, a ruru said its name. Twice. I took it as encouragement.

The fix was one line. Finding it took the rest of the night, a cold cup of tea and a long look at a stacking context I had apparently created myself.

Every CSS bug is a z-index bug if you’re tired enough.
